It was his love of knowledge, paired with the ambition to build a company driven by technology, that inspired Peder Andersen Fisker to found the company in 1906. It may have started in a Copenhagen backyard workshop, but it wasn't long before the company had become a global leader in professional cleaning equipment.
As the timeline below shows, we have been - and remain - committed to delivering innovative cleaning solutions to market, and growing our business to lead the industry.
2019

The autonomous scrubber, Nilfisk Liberty SC50 is made available to all key markets across Europe and North America, setting new standards within intelligent cleaning.

2018

Nilfisk divests its outdoor business as part of its ongoing multi-year simplification strategy. Over the course of 2018, Nilfisk completes a total of five divestments across the portfolio.

Nilfisk makes considerable progress in reducing its manufacturing footprint through divestments and consolidations, exiting 7 out of 18 production sites.

2017

NKT A/S is split into two individual companies, and Nilfisk is listed as an independent company on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange (Nasdaq Copenhagen).

2016

Nilfisk announces The Horizon Program and showcases the first prototype of a new and ground-breaking autonomous scrubber enabling unmanned cleaning.

2013
Nilfisk launches its first fuel cell powered machine, the CS7000.
2008

Production facilities are opened in Querétaro, Mexico.

2007

Acquisition of Viper, a leading Chinese manufacturer and supplier of professional cleaning equipment to the mid-market.

2005

Nilfisk establishes production sites in Hungary and China.

2004
Nilfisk acquires the ALTO group, which was formed six years earlier from merging 10 global brands within the cleaning industry, including Wap and Clarke.
2000

In 2000 Nilfisk acquired CFM.

1994
Nilfisk acquires the American ”Advance Machine Company” and significantly expands market coverage to professionals in the US.
1989
Nilfisk is acquired by NKT Holding.
1988
Nilfisk takes over Gerni, which enables Nilfisk to start market high pressure cleaners for the first time.
1969

Nilfisk constantly develops new techniques to clean the exhaust air. Nilfisk’s reputation for top of the line filters attracts some exciting customers: NASA used Nilfisk vacuum cleaners to remove harmful dust from space shuttles from 1969.

Nilfisk bought a modern industrial facility in Elsinore, Denmark in 1969. The factory produced industrial vacuum cleaners.

1962

The first wet/dry vacuum cleaner is launched. 

1959

Nilfisk chooses to focus solely on cleaning equipment.

1958
Nilfisk starts production of the iconic G70 vacuum cleaner for households and professionals. It is the first Nilfisk vacuum cleaner with a dust bag.
1955
The first floor cleaner is introduced. Floorcare later becomes the largest product line in the portfolio.
1938

In 1938, Nilfisk starts establishing production facilities abroad and now manufactures in 10 countries worldwide.

1932

A new innovative vacuum cleaner is launched. Because of its significantly low sound level, it becomes known as “The Silent Dane”

1927
Sales companies are established in Great Britain and Germany. Export sales surpass domestic sales.
1919

Nilfisk starts producing motorcycles under the “Nimbus” brand.

1913

Nilfisk moves to Peter Bangs Vej in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark. An address that for the next 80 years was synonymous with Nilfisk.

1910
Nilfisk develops and patents the first electric vacuum cleaner in Europe’s. It is named ”C1” and completely changes cleaning. It becomes the foundation stone of Nilfisk.
1906
Nilfisk is founded in Denmark by P. A. Fisker and H. M. Nielsen. The company is called Fiske & Nielsen producing small electric motors.
